The HingeLock® Story
It started with a doorstop that wasn't doing the job.
01 | THE PROBLEM
A simple task shouldn't be this frustrating.
While working as a bellman, HingeLock® co-founder Luke Loeber relied on doorstops every day.
The tools available to him added unnecessary frustration to a simple task—placing and repositioning wedges, bending down repeatedly, and carrying bulky doorstops from door to door.
So he started thinking about a better way.
02 | THE IDEA
Design around the person doing the job.
Luke's background in railroad mechanics taught him to look at tools differently: understand the job, understand what's not working, and build around what the person using it actually needs.
This time, the problem was a doorstop.
03 | THE PROTOTYPE
An idea became something he could build.
Using a 3D printer at home, Luke began designing and testing his own solution.
The goal was practical: create a compact doorstop that could work from the hinge instead of relying on a traditional floor wedge.
Those early prototypes eventually became the HingeLock® Mini.
04 | THE BUZZ
Other people wanted one, too.
Luke wasn't the only one who saw the potential.
As coworkers began using the product, interest grew. What started as a solution Luke made for himself became something other people wanted to use too.
And that was the beginning of HingeLock®.
05 | THE GROWTH
One solution became the start of something bigger.
Today, HingeLock® has grown beyond that first hinge-mounted design.
The HingeLock® Mini and HingeLock® Wedge offer two different approaches to the same everyday need, while HingeLock® continues developing products around a principle that has been there from the beginning:

For co-founders Luke and Jason, HingeLock® is about more than creating doorstops. They enjoy solving real problems and developing practical solutions around what people actually need.
They believe a good solution is never finished just because it works. There is always something to learn, something to refine, or another problem worth solving.
Whether refining an existing HingeLock® product or exploring a new problem worth solving, the approach remains the same: listen, solve, improve.
HingeLock® may have started with one doorstop, but Luke and Jason are building a company that never stops looking for a better way.
